You’re spoiled for choice planning a golf trip to Scotland. Known for being the country that gave golf to the world, there are over 550 fantastic courses including links, parklands and 9-hole courses. In fact there are more courses per head of the population than anywhere else in the world. It’s fair to say we love our golf and it’s a big deal!
Our location in Perthshire means we’re less than an hour’s drive to the world famous Old Course at St Andrews, and only a 30 minute drive to the PGA® Centenary Course at Gleneagles. Perfect for planning a few rounds during your stay.
The Old Course St Andrews is on every golfer’s bucket list. The oldest golf course in history it has welcomed the world’s most revered golfers and been the setting for many spectacular championship games including the 150th Open. The course is renowned for its supreme challenges including the notorious Hell Bunker, and for selfie-fans the iconic Swilcan Bridge is a must, particularly at sunset. Truly stunning!
For more than 600 years St Andrews Links has evolved, much like the game of golf itself. The St Andrews Links Trust manages a world-class golf academy. Players can perfect their game with individual or group coaching tailored specifically to their needs. State of the art technology is used including the Digital V1 Pro, Top Tracer, SAM Puttlab and the BodiTrak BalanceLab.
Gleneagles is a golfer’s playground. With three of Scotland’s top golf courses and recent hosts of The Ryder and Solheim Cups, it’s easy to see why. The stunning golf courses are as much fun for novices to play as they are for the pros.
Carnoustie Golf Links is iconic and home to ‘Golf’s Greatest Test’. Only a 40 minute drive from Errol Park, golf has been played here since the 16th century. It was the Carnoustie natives who established the Professional Golfer’s Associations of America and Australia.
There are many other incredible golf courses to consider, a few favourites close by are the Rosemount Golf Course, situated in beautiful Perthshire. The course has stunning avenues lined with heather, pine and silver birch, and was originally designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie, the renowned architect of the Augusta National course in the USA.
Centuries of golf have been played at Balcomie Links in Fife. Laid out by golf legend ‘Old’ Tom Morris and opened in 1895, the course combines stunning sea views and an often demanding course layout. With notoriously tricky holes including the devilishly challenging 5th, a 447 yard par four named ‘Hell’s hole’ that Sam Torrance claimed was probably the hardest par four in Scotland.
In short, whatever your level and course preference, you’ll never be far from fairways and greens suited to you. Follow in the footsteps of golfing legends during your stay at Errol Park.
